Overview

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is the first national applied University in the State of Qatar, offering applied Bachelors and Master’s degrees in addition to certificates and diplomas in various fields. UDST has over 50 programs in the fields of Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades, Business Management, Computing and Information Technology, Health Sciences, Continuing and Professional Education and more.

To provide executive-level oversight for academic affairs, including the provision of leadership for the

implementation of the institution's Teaching and Learning Strategy.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide executive-level leadership and direction for a University-wide comprehensive strategy for Academic Affairs which complements and supports the academic and technical and vocational mission of UDST.
  • Advise the President in developing overall academic plans, policies, and procedures for the execution of the strategic plan, mission, vision, and goals of UDST.
  • Build internal and external relationships to further the TVET mission of UDST and be responsible for serving on local, regional, and international committees, boards and/or task force teams.
  • Provide leadership in the identification, development, and maintenance of high quality and market-appropriate technical and applied programs.
  • Contribute to the formulation of UDST’s strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the academic strategy in alignment with UDST’s strategy through division initiatives and projects.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes and guidelines related to Institutional Delivery and Academic.
  • Monitor performance of the Academics Division vis-à-vis established KPIs on a regular basis.
  • Develop and monitor the academic annual budget in collaboration with Support Services Division.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships and working relations with other higher education institutions, K-12 community groups, industry stakeholders, and ministerial bodies.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, coordination, assessment and continuous improvement of high-quality experiential learning and academic excellence.

 

 

Candidates must demonstrate experience within internationally recognized higher education institutions, and possess a strong understanding of global academic standards and accreditation frameworks. Experience working within culturally diverse environments is highly desirable. 

Qualifications

Education:

 

An earned PhD, awarded from an accredited institution in an appropriate field such as Engineering, Information Technology or a Computer Science is required.

 

The successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial senior leadership experience within higher education. The role requires a proven ability to lead complex academic operations, drive Academic excellence, and support innovation in teaching, learning, research, and industry engagement.

 

Experience:

 

Minimum of 15 years of total experience out of which, 5 years of experience in a similar leadership

position, at a university or college campus undergoing rapid growth and development.

  • Experience with reviewing and/ or facilitating the review of faculty promotion portfolios.
  • Significant experience in building and sustaining highly productive leadership teams, and in inspiring others to achieve excellence.

 

Language:

 

Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language is required.
