We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support a cutting-edge research project evaluating the environmental performance of blue and green hydrogen as emerging feedstocks for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
The project will conduct comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to quantify emissions, resource use, and sustainability indicators across hydrogen production, storage, transport, and conversion pathways.

This research supports national and global decarbonization goals and contributes to the future of low-carbon aviation.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will:

  • Conduct life cycle inventory (LCI) data collection for blue and green hydrogen production systems.
  • Assist in building LCA models using software tools (e.g., SimaPro, OpenLCA, GaBi).
  • Analyze energy, material, emissions, and process data for aviation fuel pathways.
  • Support scenario analysis comparing hydrogen-based aviation fuel with conventional Jet-A fuel.
  • Review relevant academic literature, standards, and databases (ISO 14040/44, ecoinvent).
  • Help prepare progress reports, publications, and presentations for academic and industry partners.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, graduate students, and industry stakeholders.
