Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our research team on the Sustainable Dhows Retrofitting in Qatar project.

 

The project focuses on converting traditional Qatari dhows to operate using solar panels and electric propulsion systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators and research team to achieve project deliverables, contribute to system design and integration, and compile results for high-quality publications.

Responsibilities

  • Publish findings in high-impact journals and present results.
  • Draft policies and procedures related to sustainable dhow retrofitting.
  • Prepare content for the Green Guidebook and training materials to support educational dissemination.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students engaged in project activities.
  • Collaborate with research team members to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Assist in implementations and finalization of the dhow retrofitting project.
  • Contribute to the integration of renewable energy and electric propulsion systems for marine applications.
  • Compile, analyze, and document research results.
  • Support dissemination of findings in conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering from a well-recognized institution.
  • Strong research and publication record in relevant fields.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in:
    • Renewable energy systems (preferred).
    • Boat/ship electrification or electric propulsion systems (preferred).
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be currently residing in Qatar and holding a valid QID.
