Assist the Institution in achieving its mission and vision by developing technical, academic and
occupationally-aligned courses and programs, delivering quality instruction in the associated area of
specialization, and supporting learning and research consistent with the principles and goals of an institute
of applied sciences and technology.
I. Teaching and Learning
1. Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to create an optimum learning
environment in alignment with the Academic Unit’s academic quality framework and curriculum
outcomes, evolving professional scopes of practice, and industry requirements.
2. Plan and deliver instruction to maximize student development and retention, employing a variety of
teaching and development strategies, and making modifications to meet diverse student needs.
3. Facilitate, monitor and evaluate student learning and progress.
4. Provide reflection on course delivery to help maintain program quality and relevancy to stakeholders.
5. Demonstrate a command of educational and professional best practices within the discipline by aligning
learning assignments within practical industry-relevant contexts.
6. Maintain currency of knowledge and practice through professional development, applied research and /
or desk research.
II. Classroom Management
7. Use Scheduled class time effectively.
8. Establish a safe, cooperative and respectful learning environment.
9. Ensure student accommodations are identified and responded to within the capabilities of the Institution
and the learning environment.
10. Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance and provide prompt feedback, recording
grades and attendance within established deadlines.
11. Maintain course portfolio documents required for accreditation purposes and engage in instructional
redevelopment/improvement plans.
12. Oversee the work of Teaching Assistants to ensure laboratory equipment is appropriately prepared for
instructional delivery and, appropriate supplies and instructional resources are available for lessons and
demonstrations.
III. Operational
13. Learn, use and recommend educational technologies and resources to enhance learning experiences for
students.
14. Prepare high quality learning support materials using the Institution’s LMS to engage learners, and
enhance student learning.
15. Contribute to the development of course outlines during program reviews and new program development.
16. Fulfill the role of subject-matter-expert through various program and campus-wide activities as well as
external industry and community engagements.
17. Maintain membership in relevant professional organizations.
18. Initiate and contribute to scholarly and creative activities that are experiential and applied in nature,
aligned with the technical/vocational focus of the Institution, and are in support of Qatar’s research
priorities.
19. Contribute to faculty, course and program meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance
student success.
20. Provide substitution for colleagues in case of absence to ensure that there is no interruption in student
learning.
21. Employ personal knowledge, expertise, and professional skills to benefit the Institution, the students, the
discipline or profession, and the community at large in a manner consistent with, and in support of, the
Institution mission.
22. Undertake pedagogical and technical/discipline-specific professional development according to personal
needs for continuous improvement that can serve the Institution
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Certifications
Masters (or equivalent as designated and approved) in a relevant discipline from a recognized, accredited
institution. A terminal degree in a closely related field may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification or licensure
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Education (e.g. Post-secondary Education, Adult Education or Vocational
Education)
Experience
Academic
A minimum of three (3) years of academic experience with a record of successful participation/leadership
in applied research projects
Industry
A minimum of three (3) years of employment experience as a practitioner/professional within the relevant
discipline
Preferred Experience
6+ years of employment experience as a practitioner/professional within the relevant discipline
Teaching experience in post-secondary, adult training, or industry training environment
Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects
Language
Exemplary verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in written and
spoken English language.
