University of Doha invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Engineering and Technology.
Reporting to the Vice President, Academics, the Dean plays a pivotal role in supporting and advancing the strategic vision and academic leadership of the College. This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will lead the development of a strategy and plan that ensures the success of the College of Engineering and Technology and manage the College’s performance in line with the plan and set objectives.
The incumbent is also required to take full responsibility for overseeing the academic, administrative, and financial matters within the College. This includes providing leadership and direction to staff and faculty to meet the expectations of program development and delivery; fostering educational promotional activities and partnerships in the State of Qatar, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence; maintaining relevant external industry relationships important to program design and content, as well as faculty and students.
As the Dean, College of Engineering and Technology at UDST, the successful incumbent will play a critical role in shaping the College’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with the University mission and vision.
The incumbent will actively contribute to the development and implementation of the College’s business plan, aligning it with UDST’s overarching strategy through various initiatives and projects. His/her leadership will be pivotal in driving the College's development and implementation of education strategies, operational procedures, and guidelines aimed at achieving excellence in teaching and learning, research and community service. Additionally, he/she will lead policy development initiatives for the College, ensuring that its operations, services, and policies are in line with UDST’s mission and vision.
As part of operational excellence, the Dean, College of Engineering and Technology will be instrumental in leading the development, delivery, and evaluation of programs within the College. Ensuring the integrity of academic programs through systematic curriculum and program review will be essential, along with maintaining program accreditations and exploring opportunities for articulation agreements.
The successful incumbent’s strategic leadership will guide quality assurance and accreditation activities, establishing positive partnerships with external stakeholders nationally and internationally, to align needs with the College’s programs. Building positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students will be paramount, ensuring a positive, high-quality learning and working environment.
He/she will also manage faculty and staff effectively, promote student events and extra-curricular activities, and lead strategic engagement in leadership and management initiatives to elevate the College’s performance and achieve UDST’s strategic goals.
In the realm of teaching and learning, the Dean, College of Engineering and Technology will be involved in fostering educational and industry partnerships to support current programming and advance College programming for the future.
Qualifications:
Earned PhD in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognized, accredited institution and should demonstrate evidence of scholarly, professional, and creative achievement sufficient to qualify at the rank of full Professor.
