The Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development Directorate invites applications for the position of Research Affairs Specialist. This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will manage the pre and post award grant application process from inception to completion and promote sponsored awards initiatives throughout UDST. She/he will advise faculty and business unit staff on UDSTs awards process, policies and procedures.  The ideal candidate will assist faculty staff with proposal development, review and submission process for pre-award agreements to ensure alignment with UDST’s policies and procedures.  She/he will collaborate with the Director of Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development in grant submissions, budget preparation and track payments of all research grants.

 

She/he will act as a liaison between faculty staff, funding institutions and government bodies and review and update sponsor agreements as recommended by the Director of Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development.  The ideal candidate will need to prepare reconciliation of actuals to budget variance and analysis for annual audit to contribute to grant audit review activities and to ensure timely closeout of audit recommendations.

 

She/he will need to monitor awards proposal status and advise Principal Investigator on requirements and deadlines associated with research protocols highlighting discrepancies to the Director of Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development.

 

The ideal candidate will research best practices in relation to award proposal process to assist in the development of tools and training workshops for faculty members

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience 

 

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Master’s degree is preferred

 

Minimum 5 Years’s experience in grants/research administration, budget development/management or grant writing

Relevant education certifications are preferred
