The College of Engineering and Technology invites applications for positions of Marine Engineering at Associate Professor, Assistant Professor ranks in the Marine Engineering domain. 

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will contribute to material preparation and characterization of diverse quantum materials, encompassing transition metal dichalcogenides, innovative superconductors, and two-dimensional ferromagnets. Emphasis will be placed on investigating phase transitions within these materials, as they can be manipulated by external parameters. Special attention will be given to quantum materials with relevance to energy applications, such as superconductors and magnetic materials. Specifically, the prospective candidate will play a key role in advancing research to identify new materials and explore innovative methods to enhance superconducting performance, pushing the boundaries of current technology. Responsibilities include conducting tests using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will engage collaboratively with researchers and stakeholders, including local and international collaborators and institutions, in alignment with the goals of the project.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Masters or Ph.D. in Physics, Material Science and Engineering, or closely related disciplines from a reputable university. Successful candidates should possess a proven record of scholarly achievements and a demonstrated excellence in research. Proficiency in handling equipments for characterization of materials is a requirement.

 

Fluency in both written and spoken English is mandatory, while proficiency in written and spoken Arabic is considered an advantageous asset.

 

Preferable research experiences

  • Significant experience in material preparation and characterization
  • A good publication record of the position-related papers published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a multi-disciplinary research team, and to carry out independent individual research to meet project goals
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Experiences in scientific writing for preparation of scientific papers for publication and presentations for meetings and/or conferences
  • Outstanding hands-on skills, computational and problem-solving skills, and a high level of analytical ability
  • Ability to deal with various data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Willingness to cooperate and support other researchers in the research lab
  • Experience in working with a team of researchers and supervising undergraduate students

 

Skills

Proficiency in preparation of materials and characterization using state-of-the-art equipments.
